What's My Gold Worth?
- Christopher's calculates the price of your gold based on the current price of gold
- We then go through your items in front of you and separate the different carats of gold and pull out any non gold items
- We then weigh each karat group by the penny weight, which is the standard for the industry. There are 20 penny weights per troy ounce.
- Most gold jewelry is not pure gold. For Example, 10k gold usually assays at 39.5% and 14k gold usually assays at 55.5%
- Christopher's deals with the top refiner in the nation. Because of the high volume of gold Christopher's refines, the refiner pays Christopher's a very small percentage under the melt value of the gold. In return, we pay our customers significantly more than the competition. In fact, many gold buyers in the region sell their old gold to us.
What Are My Gemstones Worth?
- Christopher's is primarily interested in round and princess cut diamonds 3/4 ct. and up of good quality. We will inspect any other stones you may have in jewelry and tell you if we can pay a premium. If you have stones in your gold jewelry that you wish to keep, we can have them removed for you.
- Christopher's buys previously owned diamonds at a small percentage below current wholesale prices.
What's My Silver Worth?
- Christopher's calculates the price or your sterling silver based on the current price of silver
- Christopher's is interested in buying only pieces that are marked sterling or .925
- Sterling silver is 92.5% pure. The refiner pays Christopher's a small percentage below the melt value. In turn, we pay a small percentage under the refiner's price.
- Hollow ware such as bowls, candle stick holders and knives are normally weighted with plaster and often have an inner steel rod for strength. These foreign materials must be removed before Christopher's will buy them.
