What Is Currently Redeemable?
All United States currency printed by the Federal Government since the 19th century is still redeemable for face value!  This would not include Confederate money, broken bank notes or private mint issues.

What To Look For
Many types of U.S. currency are quite different from the recently redesigned Federal Reserve Notes we use today. One of the last obsolete types that many people are still familiar with is the Silver Certificate, last printed in the 1957. Until 1968, these notes were redeemable in silver bullion.

Before 1929, notes were larger in size than the current issues, and were issued in various types such as Interest-Bearing notes, Gold Certificates and National Bank Notes which have hundreds of issues from many banks around the country, from large city banks to the small local bank. Other types were created due to shortages of coins during times of conflict, such as the Fractional Notes of the Civil War era, and postage currency, used in lieu of small change.
