Associations
Many collectors get their start into more advanced coin collecting by joining a local coin club, plus becoming a member of their state organization and even the national association, the American Numismatic Association, or A.N.A. In Iowa, we have our state organization, the Iowa Numismatic Association, or I.N.A., of which most local clubs are members. Dues for individuals are only five dollars a year. The I.N.A. publishes it's own newsletter with business information, meeting dates for coin clubs and articles about numismatic events and interests.
Local clubs and state associations are usually also members of the A.N.A. There is also a regional organization called the Central States Numismatic Society, or C.S.N.S., which encompasses the upper mid-western states, Kansas to North Dakota in the west, and Kentucky and Michigan in the east. However, individuals and clubs from states outside the region are members also.
